Central Florida 100: Barrier Breakers and Free Education in Osceola

Pamela Nabors, President and CEO, CareerSource Central Florida

Last week: FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION: Osceola County Commissioners this week announced a program that will change lives across the region: All 2022 high school graduates in Osceola County will receive free college or technical education at Valencia College or at Osceola Technical College. CareerSource Central Florida is delighted to support this program and will provide fully paid scholarships for career training programs. The $12.4 million program, Osceola Prospers, is a dedication to skills training and education that will lift lives, and the region as a whole, to new levels and the Commission is to be commended for its leadership. and his vision.

Look forward: MASK REMOVAL: A major topic of interest, particularly in Orlando, is the TSA’s new mask policy expected this spring. After several extensions, the TSA mask mandate is set to expire on April 18, as the CDC and the government work to revise public transportation corridor policy based on current risk levels. I have a few plane trips planned this spring and while I may still choose to wear a mask due to the slight increase in new infections, hopefully it won’t be a requirement. Regardless of the extension, it is encouraging to see travel resume at our airports, theme parks and region as the country celebrates spring.
