CNN anchor Jake Tapper has dismissed complaints filed by Republicans that suggest Big Tech’s censorship of the Hunter Biden scandal “rigged” the 2020 presidential election.
Tapper has long been proud to ban lawmakers and GOP candidates who challenged President Biden’s election victory, whom he called “election deniers,” from his CNN programs.
On Friday’s show of “The Lead,” Tapper cited a Washington Post analysis that divided those Republicans into “two groups.”
“One is people lying about the election or getting it wrong and watering it down and just saying it was robbed or whatever,” Tapper told his guest. “And then there are the ‘questioners.’ oh, it was faked in a different way because twitter would do it” I’m not letting the New York Post publish, you know, publicize the Hunter Biden story or anything – but they do. accept in a way that makes them feel comfortable, but they continue to play with the lie.
“I find them almost more cynical than Holocaust deniers,” Tapper added.

Tapper was asked by CNN President Chris Licht to fill the network’s 9 p.m. ET timeslot at least halfway through. The timeslot had been vacant since Chris Cuomo was fired last year.
Licht would like Tapper to be “the face of his CNN” as part of the network’s rebranding effort to portray itself as apolitical and nonpartisan after years of hyper-liberal and anti-Trump coverage.
Meanwhile, Tapper’s comment suggests he has yet to pivot. In fact, despite four hours of programming between Thursday and Friday, CNN’s main anchor avoided mentioning explosive developments in the Hunter Biden investigation, according to Grabien’s transcripts.
HUNTER BIDEN SCANDAL: MEDIA SLOWLY ACKNOWLEDGES LEGITIMACY OF EMAILS AFTER DENYING LAPTOP STORY IN 2020
The Washington Post on Thursday quoted unnamed federal agents who say they have “enough evidence” to charge Hunter Biden with tax and firearms crimes.
While other CNN programs have addressed the Post’s stunning report, “The Lead” has not been mentioned in each of the two-hour shows that have aired since the newspaper ran its story.
Fox News has contacted CNN for comment.
Tapper didn’t exactly agree with the Hunter Biden scandal when the New York Post first broke his story about his infamous laptop.
“Bakari, the right is going crazy with all kinds of allegations about Biden and his family. Too disgusting to even repeat here,” Tapper told fellow Democrat Bakari Sellers in October 2020. “I mean, some of the ones I’ve seen of the president’s son and some of the president’s supporters are just completely unbalanced.”
Perhaps he was following orders as CNN’s top brass at the time were caught sparking the Hunter Biden scandal as he emerged, according to audio tapes released by Project Veritas in December 2020, after that Joe Biden has been declared president-elect.
CNN BOSS, THE POLITICAL DIRECTOR RELEASES HUNTER BIDEN CONTROVERSY, AUDIO TAPES REVEAL: ‘WE’RE NOT GOING WITH’ THE STORY
“Obviously, we’re not going with the New York Post story right now on Hunter Biden,” CNN political director David Chalian said in a conference call Oct. 14, the same day where the Post published its first article on the Hunter Biden emails. Chalian then insisted that the report “gave its marching orders” to the “right-wing echo chamber on what to talk about today”.
“The Trump media, you know, immediately goes from – OK, well, too bad – to [Michael Flynn] unmasking was, you know, deemed completely absurd in comparison to the last alleged scandal and expecting everyone else to do the same,” CNN President Jeff Zucker told his team on Oct. 16. “So , I don’t think we should repeat unsubstantiated slanders just because the right-wing media suggests we should.”
Much of the media, including CNN, has promoted the baseless narrative that content from Hunter Biden’s laptop, which highlights his shady overseas business dealings that may implicate his father, may in fact be the product of “Russian disinformation”.
Since the election, however, the media has slowly acknowledged that the laptop is genuine.
In August, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg went viral for resurfacing about what happened between Facebook and the FBI in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election during an interview with Joe Rogan.

“”Basically the background here is the FBI, I think, came up to us – members of our team and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert … We thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We warned him that basically there’s going to be some kind of dump like that. So just be vigilant,” Zuckerberg said.
“Did they specifically say you had to be on your guard about this story?” Rogan asked later.
“No, I don’t remember if it was precisely that, but it basically fit the pattern,” Zuckerberg said.
