Central Crime Branch police on Monday arrested four more people in connection with the sexual assault of an underage girl, who, along with another pre-college girl, was pushed into prostitution. Thus, 14 people have been arrested to date in 10 cases recorded in this regard.
Police named those arrested as Mohammed Ali (74), Ismail (41), Gregory Leonard (62) and Rasheed Sahed (74). These four people are accused of having sexually assaulted the minor girl on different dates in a residential apartment in Nandigudde in the city.
A case for offenses punishable under Sections 363, 354(A) and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and under Sections 4, 6 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act has been filed against the persons arrested.
On information from the victim to his university director, Childline alerted the police who searched the apartment to arrest six people who were allegedly involved in the management of the prostitution racket.
Based on information gathered from the victim and technical evidence, CCB police arrested four people who had sexually assaulted the girl. A total of five cases of offenses punishable under the provisions of the ICC and the PoCSO were registered.
Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar told reporters on Tuesday that technical evidence gathered by the CCB revealed that another underage girl had been shoved into the racket. In addition to arresting the six who ran the racketeering, the CCB arrested the four on Monday. One of those four defendants included a retired bank employee, he said. Five cases falling under the provisions of the IPC and PoCSO Act were registered.
Mr Kumar said CCB police are closely analyzing technical evidence to find out if there are more underage victims. A search is underway for the people who sexually assaulted the two underage girls, he said.
