“Look at how most news outlets either mocked or downplayed or just brushed off the Hunter Biden laptop story, as reported by the New York Post in late fall. of the 2020 campaign and the way Twitter blocked and even wouldn’t allow people to share information even in private messages…was nothing short of a major embarrassment,” Kurtz said. “So sixteen, eighteen months later, now the New York Times and the Washington Post are saying, guess what, we authenticated the emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop. I’ll give them a thumbs up for getting in on the game. They moved the story forward in some ways. But you have to ask yourself, what took so long?

Gowdy noted how former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe insisted the story was not part of a “Russian disinformation” campaign, but Democratic news outlets and officials continued to assert the opposite. Kurtz said now that Biden’s poll numbers are down, there’s less incentive to hide the facts that Hunter Biden is currently under federal investigation.

“If they’ve been quiet all this time, they’ll look really bad. Also, I think there’s a bit of backlash from what was once described as just a right-wing media crusade. I think that “They got a little embarrassed actually, if it was Donald Trump Jr. with similar allegations, of course they would have done it during the campaign. That amounts to media malpractice,” said Kurtz.

“Some of them still have their blinders on. Some belatedly recognize the value of the news here. He’s the son of the President of the United States, and I think when we look back, that’s going to be exhibit A of why the media and social media credibility, in the case of Twitter, just keep flowing,” Kurtz said.
