Kevin Spacey returns to film as pedophile hunter after allegations of sexual misconduct

Kevin Spacey is set to make a comeback in movies playing a detective probing an artist falsely accused of being a pedophile.

The 61-year-old actor’s career collapsed four years ago after a series of allegations of sexual misconduct were brought against him by men, one of whom claimed he had been targeted when he was only 14 years old.

The Oscar-winning double was fired from Netflix’s US presidential drama House of Cards and removed from the completed film All The Money In The World which was reprinted with actor Christopher Plummer in his role and hasn’t worked since.

But none of the allegations against Spacey – which he all denied – resulted in legal action.

Now the actor has reportedly been lined up to play a police officer investigating a man falsely accused of being a pedophile in the Italian film L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio – aka The Man Who Drew God.

Spacey has faced a slew of sexual misconduct allegations starting in 2017

It will also star 84-year-old Brit Vanessa Redgrave and will be directed by her husband Franco Nero who has said he would be very happy “to bring Spacey back to a film set”.

Nero, 79, will himself play a blind artist who uses people’s voices to draw their physical features.

But as his fame and popularity grew, he was wrongly accused of sexual abuse.

Spacey is expected to start filming shortly.

The star, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for American Beauty in 1999 and the Supporting Gong for The Usual Suspects four years earlier, was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars until he was involved in sex scandals.

Former Star Trek actor Antony Rapp has claimed Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was 14 – and since then more than 30 other people have made allegations against the actor.

Rapp’s public comments about him prompted Spacey to go gay in 2017.

He wrote at the time that the allegation “encouraged me to tackle other things in my life.”

“I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and now I choose to live as a gay man.”

He added: “I want to deal with this honestly and openly and it starts with a review of my own behavior.”

He said he did not recall such a meeting with Rapp but apologized “for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior”.

Other men then complained about Spacey’s behavior as well, but he was not convicted of any crime.

Last year, he recounted in a podcast how his world had completely changed: “My job, a lot of my connections, my position in my own industry disappeared in just a few hours,” he said.

Daily Star has contacted representatives for Spacey for comment.
