CONCERNED, the parents and guardians of students at Cherutombo High School in the city of Marondera have sounded the alarm over the sex scandals that continue to plague the school.
We learn that some rude students have now become so anarchic that they produce pornographic material themselves and are busy selling it to school for US$5 as well as posting the sinister stuff on social media platforms.
We also understand that this has been happening for some time now, which has prompted parents and guardians to protest and approach the government and other stakeholders to try to bring sanity back to the school they fear it quickly turns into a brothel where seemingly perpetually drunk students – who are also said to be heavy drug users – go on to do whatever they want.
It’s curious that these shenanigans have gone unchecked for so long and that the police seem inactive – apart from carrying out drug abuse awareness campaigns – that they hope that one day someone will come into their offices and give them information about who is supplying drugs to students. That will never happen.
We are sure the thieves are well known at the school and it would take a visit to the school by the police to pick up the culprits and pick up their parents from home and take them to the police station to get to the bottom of this case once and for all because the plague could soon invade the whole town of Marondera and possibly other schools across the country.
Perhaps the problem has already spread given that drug abuse among young Zimbabweans is now a serious challenge with around half of young people in the country abusing them and alcohol in some way. or another.
The students, who abuse drugs and make pornographic videos at school, know their suppliers and a little questioning by the police will clear the culprits in no time.
Kudos to the police for calling on parents and guardians to keep a close eye on their children, which we believe is the root of the whole problem.
Parents and guardians these days are so busy trying to make ends meet that they barely supervise their children, leading them to engage in misbehavior.
Drug addiction has become one of Zimbabwe’s worst nightmares with drunk school children embroiled in porn video scandals that should spur the nation as a whole into action.
In fact – because this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of school children involved in drug and alcohol abuse – if the nation is serious about stemming drug and alcohol abuse in schools , which now drives kids to even crazy things like filming themselves during sex orgies, Cherutombo High School should be an example to other schools that this kind of behavior has no place in Zimbabwe.
A stitch in time will serve the land of real anarchy in all our schools and Cherutombo High School is where we should deal with this problem decisively before it proliferates. And, in the meantime, all parents and guardians across the country must watch their children closely if they care about their children and the future of the country.
