Major newspapers miss the mark with patchy coverage of Jared Kusher, Hunter Biden

USA Today rewrites recent history to outrage the Biden family

By a strange coincidence, USA today also published a profile of Valerie Biden Owens, the president’s sister, on Sunday, which appeared on the front page of Monday’s print edition under the headline, “President’s Sister Defends ‘Joey,’ Hunter.”

“Never since John F. Kennedy has a President been surrounded by such a large and united clan, which has been a source of both emotional support and political turmoil for the Commander-in-Chief,” Susan Page wrote. , the newspaper’s Washington bureau chief. . She further claimed, without an ounce of irony, “For years, Donald Trump has hammered Joe Biden with corruption charges involving multimillion-dollar contracts his son Hunter and brother James won in China and in Ukraine when Biden was vice president.”

Even if the Times hadn’t just published the story of Kushner’s deal with the Saudi regime, it would be nothing short of amazing if Page could write such sweeping statements about the perception of impropriety in the Biden family without acknowledging the well known story of Trump’s children manufacturing millions of business abroad during his presidency.

Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner worked in the White House with direct access to vast political portfolios, and Trump’s adult sons were involved in his political campaign while ostensibly running his business as his proxies. And, of course, Trump himself has used the presidency to regularly date its hotels and resorts at government expense, siphoning off millions of taxpayer dollars through his properties in Florida, New Jersey, New York, Virginiaand even Scotland.

If Page wanted to tell a story about the president’s family serving as a source of “political turmoil for the commander-in-chief,” his fixation on President Biden’s sister is a puzzling choice.

In the past five days, USA Today still hasn’t published anything in its print edition about Kushner’s deal with the Saudi government.
