WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A former Wichita County deputy who was due to stand trial next week on 10 counts of alleged sexual misconduct with female inmates is back in jail on a new charge.
Brett Brasher was jailed on Friday, September 16, 2022 for forced prostitution by force, threat or coercion. His bail is set at $200,000.
Brasher had been released on bail for his 10 previous charges.
His jury trial will continue according to courthouse sources, although a decision has not yet been filed.
Brasher’s defense attorney had previously filed a motion to continue the trial as Brasher had recently been re-indicted on his previous charges with new wording replaced with the previous wording.
A motion to dismiss the original indictments was filed today by the DA
The trial also continued from July after his lawyer requested time to hire an investigator.
Details of the new forced prostitution charge are not available at this time.
The date of the alleged crime is the same as that of three of Brasher’s official oppression charges, October 29, 2021.
The defense attorney earlier said a plea bargain offer from the prosecutor in March was turned down after conferring with his client.
