Who is Louis Freeh?

The former lawyer and judge was director of the FBI under Bill Clinton and Geroge W. Bush. A archived biography notes that Freeh was born in New Jersey and received a JD degree from Rutgers Law School in 1974. In 1984, he obtained an LLM in criminal law from New York University Law School. In 1985, he enlisted as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve – Judge Advocate General Corps.

Freeh was a lawyer to Senator Clifford Case and also ran his own private practice for a time. In 1975 he joined the FBI in the New York office. From there, he quickly rose through the ranks until he changed tracks in the 1980s. In 1981, he was Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. In 1989, he was a partner lawyer. Between 1990 and 1991, he was special prosecutor in the US Department of Justice, before returning to the FBI. In 1993 he was appointed Director and held this position until 2001.

Prior to his appointment as director, Freeh was famous in the “Pizza Connection” case and the special prosecutor in the notorious bomber Walter Moody case. His time as director of the FBI was not without controversy. In the late 1990s, the Department of Justice investigation recommended that Freeh be censored for management failures during the siege of Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

He also played a crucial role in the ATF 1993 survey in Waco, Texas, and the infamous TWA 800 flight crash. Further scandals followed, leading Freeh to resign in 2001 due to mounting public pressure. Subsequently, he spent a few years in a consulting role in the private sector. In 2004 he started teaching at Widener University Law School. He has also conducted several independent investigations, including on the Child Sexual Abuse in Penn State scandal in 2011.

Links to the Biden family

Details of Freeh’s links to the Bidens were first exposed by daily mail. According to the Mail, Freeh has been courting Biden since 2016, when he served as vice president. In July 2016, Freeh emailed Hunter and said, “I also spoke to dad a few weeks ago and would like to explore some future work options with him. I think working together on these questions (and other legal matters) would be useful, fun and rewarding. “

“I’m very flexible and we could set it up as a share of capital or whatever works best. It would definitely be an honor to work with both of you,” he said a month later. In April 2017, Freeh emailed Hunter saying that “our family foundation made a contribution of $ 100,000 to the Hallie Children’s Trust last year. My accountants (PWC) now report that since the grant was not paid to a 501 (c) organization, that was not a good foundation gift. ”He said he would correct this error by sending another $ 100,000 to the trust, after speaking to the ‘IRS.

Previously, Freeh had also asked Hunter for Biden’s personal contact details. “If you have his cell phone and a personal email, I’d like to have his contacts (protect). I would always persuade him to partner with me, ”Freeh wrote. To that, Hunter replied, “He rarely uses email. (Chung’s email address) is also the best way to make sure he gets the message. It’s Kathy you met.” Kathy Chung was a staff member in Biden’s office when he was vice president and continued to serve Biden after he left.

Even before these emails, Freeh would have been close to the Bidens. The Mail noted that he was a member of the Beau Biden Foundation. He has also called Beau and Hunter “close friends” in the past. It is not known if Hunter or President Biden has ever worked with Freeh at any time. There does not appear to be any evidence of this, as Freeh has reportedly been caught in the past working with controversial figures like Romanian real estate mogul Gabriel Popoviciu, former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and even Rudy Guiliani.

So far, the White House has remained silent and has not addressed the leaks. Unless Biden worked directly with Freeh while he was vice president, there doesn’t appear to be any major impropriety issues. But given the controversial past of Freeh and his associates, this could prove problematic for the president.
